NEW ULM - New Ulm was recently featured in a Washington Post article on how different cultures celebrate Christmas in Minnesota and Wisconsin, with a particular emphasis put on Swedish, Danish and German cultures. The article focused on visiting several different towns and focusing on the particular things down at each location to celebrate the season.
Local historian George Glotzbach gave the reporter a tour of the town, showing off Schell's brewery, the B&L Bar and Domeier's German Store. The article says New Ulm is purported to be the most German town in the United States. The reporter puts a focus on food and drink shared around town. The August Schell mansion decked out for Christmas and the Menzel Christmas display at the Brown County Historical Society are feature photographs for the story.
