HopStop looks to be the ultimate public transportation companion for Windows Phone users, packing in detailed metro and bus information for over 60 cities across the United States, Canada and Europe.
At heart, HopStop is a directions app, but it provides users with plenty of options for how to get from A to B. Users can import addresses directly from their contact lists or input addresses manually. That app will map the directions, while showing nearby bus and subway stations. Transportation preferences can be chosen, including bus, subway, walking, taxi, regional rail, or privately owned transportation. Local taxis can be called with the press of a button, and the app will provide cost estimates for the trip you input. Bike paths are also available, but currently only for a limited number of cities.
And, if you?re going the public transportation route for the good of the environment, you can calculate how much in the way of carbon emissions you?re saving by eschewing travel by car.
HopStop is available now for free on the Windows Phone Marketplace.
